ETAG Energietechnik, the Indian subsidiary of Germany-based ETAG (European Technology Alliance Group) GmbH, has announced plans to invest approximately ₹300 crore in a new facility in Mangalore Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The unit is expected to become operational by early 2026.

According to a press release issued by the company, ETAG has acquired a land parcel in Mangalore SEZ, where the investment will support research, product development, and manufacturing activities. The facility is projected to generate annual exports worth $110 million and strengthen the company’s market presence in Asia.

ETAG also plans to employ individuals with hearing and speech impairments at the new facility. The company stated that a German trainer would be engaged to provide specialized training for these employees.

The investment announcement was made during an event where an expression of interest (EoI) was exchanged between ETAG and Mangalore SEZ Ltd. Company representatives and local officials, including Mangalore SEZ Ltd CEO V. Suryanarayan, attended the event.

Prakash Periera, Managing Director of ETAG Energietechnik, stated that the company aims to contribute to advancements in power technologies and electric vehicle charging infrastructure through this initiative.

Dakshina Kannada MP Brijesh Chowta, who was present at the event, highlighted that the investment aligns with the ‘Back to Ooru’ initiative, which encourages entrepreneurs from the region to establish businesses locally. He added that his office, in collaboration with the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), would work to attract further investments to the region.

Financial details, timelines, and employment figures for the project are expected to be finalized in the coming months.
