The Government of Uttar Pradesh is progressing with the establishment of a Medical Device Manufacturing Park in Sector 28 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region. Spanning 350 acres, the park aims to support domestic manufacturers with cost-effective testing and scientific facilities, potentially reducing production costs and enhancing the competitiveness of locally manufactured medical devices.

Approximately 195 acres, or 55% of the total land area, is designated for allotment to medical device manufacturing units. Targeted segments for the park include cancer care and radiotherapy devices, radiology and imaging equipment, anesthetic and cardio-respiratory devices, renal care devices, nuclear imaging technology, and implantable electronic devices.

The project has received multiple approvals from the Government of India. An initial approval under the “Promotion of Medical Device Park” scheme was granted on September 24, 2021, followed by approval of the Detailed Project Report on January 4, 2022. A grant of INR 30 crore has been disbursed by the Central Government to support the development.

YEIDA, designated as the State Implementation Agency, has completed external development work, including utilities and infrastructure. Internal development, such as roads, drainage, and sewerage systems, is ongoing. Ernst & Young LLP has been appointed as the project management consultant to oversee the park’s development.

This initiative aligns with broader national efforts to promote domestic manufacturing, particularly under the “Make in India” campaign. The park is intended to provide an investment-friendly environment and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) through greenfield and brownfield opportunities.
