BEML Ltd., a Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU) under India’s Ministry of Defence, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Korea-based STX Engine to collaborate on the development, manufacturing, and servicing of battle tank and marine engines, along with related components and spares.

The agreement includes provisions for maintenance and servicing of engine components for India’s defence sector, with an additional focus on export opportunities. The MoU was exchanged between Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML Ltd., and Sangsu Lee, President and CEO of STX Engine, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.

BEML stated that the collaboration aims to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities and support localisation efforts in defence and marine propulsion technologies. Under the agreement, the company will work with STX Engine to optimize production processes and integrate advanced engine technology into India’s defence infrastructure.

BEML operates across various sectors, including defence mobility solutions, metro and rail components, mining equipment, and missile systems. STX Engine specializes in high-performance engines for defence, marine, and industrial applications.

This partnership is expected to contribute to India’s efforts to strengthen its domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem.
