JBM Ecolife Mobility Pvt Ltd., a subsidiary of JBM Auto Ltd., has received an order for 1,021 electric buses valued at approximately ₹5,500 crore under the Government of India’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2 initiative.

The buses are slated for deployment across 19 cities in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana over the next 18 months, with operational support planned for up to 12 years. JBM Ecolife Mobility will oversee the project’s comprehensive execution, encompassing manufacturing, deployment, and maintenance. The initiative includes a Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) to ensure timely payments to operators, thereby enhancing financial stability for stakeholders.

This order increases JBM Auto’s order book to over 11,000 electric buses in various stages of execution. The company has previously deployed approximately 2,000 electric buses in regions including India, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2 is part of the government’s broader efforts to expand electric public transportation in urban areas. The scheme aims to support the deployment of over 38,000 electric buses from FY 2024-25 to FY 2028-29, with an outlay of ₹3,435.33 crore.

JBM Auto has established an integrated electric bus manufacturing facility in the Delhi-NCR region, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 electric buses.

Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of JBM Auto, stated that this order aligns with the company’s focus on electric mobility and infrastructure development.

The deployment of these electric buses is expected to contribute significantly to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable public transportation in the participating cities.
