Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate the production of the Ice Breaker, a long-range autonomous precision-guided weapon system, in India. The agreement aims to offer the missile system to the Indian armed forces and includes provisions for technology transfer.
Under the MoU, Rafael and BDL will collaborate to manufacture the Ice Breaker at BDL’s production facilities in India. The missile system is designed for both air-to-ground and surface-to-surface operations and features autonomous guidance capabilities for engaging stationary and moving targets in various operational environments.
According to Rafael, the Ice Breaker is compatible with multiple air and ground platforms and is designed for long-range standoff attacks. It incorporates advanced technologies to address modern battlefield requirements.
Yoav Tourgeman, CEO of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, stated that the agreement reinforces the company’s collaboration with BDL and its commitment to technology transfer in India. A. Madhavarao, Chairman and Managing Director of BDL, highlighted the potential for the partnership to enhance local manufacturing capabilities and contribute to the domestic defence industry.
The agreement is part of ongoing cooperation between Rafael and BDL, focusing on indigenous production of advanced defence systems.
