The United Engine Corporation (UEC) is exhibiting its latest aero-engine developments at Aero India 2025, including the VK-650V turboshaft engine, the 177S engine for tactical aircraft, and the AL-55E engine for the Indian HJT-36 intermediate jet trainer.
The VK-650V turboshaft engine, which has completed certification and is ready for series production, is designed for the Ansat and Ka-226T helicopters. According to UEC, the modular design of the engine is intended to simplify maintenance and repair.
The 177S engine, developed for fifth-generation tactical aircraft, features a thrust rating of 14,500 kgf and a service life of up to 6,000 hours. UEC states that the engine incorporates technologies aimed at improving fuel efficiency and reducing operational costs, with fuel consumption reduced by approximately 7% across all regimes. The engine was first presented internationally at Airshow China in November 2024.
Also on display is the AL-55E engine, developed for the Indian HJT-36 intermediate jet trainer. The engine, designed by UEC-Saturn and produced in collaboration with UEC-UMPO, has a maximum thrust of 1,760 kgf. UEC highlights its modular design and digital control system as key features aimed at enhancing manufacturability and operational efficiency.
As part of Aero India 2025, Russia is also exhibiting military aviation and defence systems, including the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter and the Lancet loitering munition. The Su-57’s aerobatic performance was demonstrated by Sukhoi Design Bureau’s test pilot Sergei Bogdan. The Lancet loitering munition, designed for engaging ground and aerial targets, features an electric motor, twin X-configured wings, and autonomous navigation capabilities with optional optical guidance.
Rosoboronexport is also showcasing air defence systems, including the S-400 Triumf and Tor surface-to-air missile systems, along with various missile armaments such as the R-77-1, R-37M, Kh-35UE anti-ship missile, and Kh-69 low-observable cruise missile.
The exhibition provides a platform for UEC and other Russian defence manufacturers to present their technology to international stakeholders and explore opportunities in the Indian market.
