John Cockerill Defense and Electro Pneumatics & Hydraulics Pvt Ltd have announced a joint venture (JV) to manufacture and assemble turrets for the Indian Army’s Indian Light Tank (I.L.T) program. The partnership will combine John Cockerill’s expertise in advanced weapon systems with Electro Pneumatics & Hydraulics’ local manufacturing capabilities.
The JV aims to support India’s defence manufacturing efforts under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. It will focus on producing turret systems designed for operations in extreme terrains.
Thierry Renaudin, CEO of John Cockerill Defense, stated that the partnership aligns with India’s defence modernization goals. Vivek Bhide, Regional President for India and Group Transformation Officer at John Cockerill, highlighted the importance of developing local manufacturing capabilities for national security.
Electro Pneumatics & Hydraulics’ Joint Managing Directors, Ingrid Rasquinha and Ashley Rasquinha, emphasized that the collaboration would facilitate domestic production of defence equipment while incorporating advanced technology.
The agreement is expected to contribute to the development of India’s domestic defence production capabilities.
