Kineco Aerospace & Defence has signed a multi-million-dollar contract with GKN Aerospace for the supply of composite components for business jets. The agreement was formalized in Paris and is expected to involve the production of lightweight aircraft parts.
While specific contract details were not disclosed, Kineco Aerospace & Defence chairman and managing director Shekhar Sardessai confirmed that the company had been selected as a supplier. The company specializes in composite manufacturing, and this contract adds to its portfolio of supplying aerospace components.
GKN Aerospace manufactures structural components for aircraft, including wing structures, fuselages, and engine housings. The company supplies major aerospace manufacturers such as Boeing, Honeywell, Safran, Lockheed Martin, Gulfstream, and Airbus.
Industry sources indicate that the contract may involve manufacturing carbon fibre and epoxy housings for aircraft engines in Goa. Composite materials, including carbon fibre and epoxy, are widely used in aerospace applications due to their strength-to-weight ratio, which contributes to improved fuel efficiency and performance.
Kineco Aerospace & Defence has previously supplied composite parts to BAE Systems for the Boeing P-8 Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft and to Safran Engines for the A320 neo aircraft.
