Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and DCX Systems Limited have established a new joint venture, ELTX, to manufacture and develop defence electronics in India. The venture will focus on technologies including airborne radars and ground systems for use in the Indian defence sector.

According to information released by the companies, ELTX will facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology to support local production and capability development. The initiative aligns with India’s efforts to expand its domestic defence manufacturing.

IAI has made several investments in India in recent years. These include the launch of its subsidiary, Aerospace Services, a partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, an innovation program with Indian deep-tech startups, and the opening of a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility in Hyderabad for radar systems.

Dror Bar, CEO of ELTA (a division of IAI), stated, “IAI/ELTA’s radars, airborne systems, homeland security and intelligence systems are at the forefront of the defense world for the last decades and serve India’s tri-services and Armed Forces. We are proud to significantly increase our commitment to support indigenization of our technologies in India and to establish this local JV, that will enhance the design and development of mutual defense electronics solutions.”

DCX Systems, which operates a manufacturing facility in Bangalore, specializes in producing radio frequency and electronic systems for the defence and aerospace sectors.

Dr. H.S. Raghavendra Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of DCX, said, “Through this JV, we will combine IAI’s innovative radar technologies with DCX’s local expertise and production infrastructure in order to deliver cutting-edge systems tailored to the growing needs of the Indian Armed Forces.”
