Polymatech Electronics has initiated the construction of a Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based semiconductor manufacturing facility in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The company announced an additional investment of INR 100 billion for the project, with plans to produce 10 billion chips annually by 2030.
The facility will manufacture advanced 5-nanometer and 3-nanometer GaN chips intended for applications in telecom infrastructure, satellite communications, Internet of Things (IoT), and defence technologies. The plant is also expected to support devices used in 5G and 6G networks, laptops, and power electronics systems.
Polymatech Electronics Managing Director and CEO Eshwara Rao Nandam stated that the project includes a telecom device packaging unit. “The telecom device packaging facility will drive self-reliance in producing critical semiconductor modules for telecom infrastructure, IoT, and satellite communications,” he said.
The project, with an initial investment of INR 11.43 billion, is expected to generate both direct and indirect employment in the region. Company estimates suggest employment opportunities could number in the thousands directly, with broader indirect employment impacts in the millions.
Land for the facility was allotted in Sector 5 of Nava Raipur through a tender process, and the lease registration was completed within 25 days, according to officials from the Chhattisgarh industry department.
Polymatech’s investment proposal was signed during the ‘Chhattisgarh Investor Connect’ event held in New Delhi in December 2024.
