Balkrishna Industries Ltd (BKT), a manufacturer of off-highway tires, plans to expand its Carbon Black production capacity from 200,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 360,000 MTPA at its Bhuj facility. The project includes the addition of a 24 MW cogeneration power plant, which will increase the total co-gen capacity at the site to 64 MW. The expansion is expected to be completed by early 2026. The move is aimed at enhancing raw material availability, improving energy efficiency, and supporting sustainability initiatives.

In parallel, BKT is preparing to enter two new tire segments in the Indian market: Premium Passenger Car Radial (PCR) Tires and Commercial Vehicle (CV) Radial Tires. The company intends to begin with a modular rollout strategy, initially targeting the Indian replacement market. The pilot launch for CV radial tires is scheduled for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, while PCR tire production is expected to begin in the third quarter of fiscal year 2027. Both categories are expected to scale up gradually.

Balkrishna Industries Ltd has outlined a roadmap to achieve a 2.2x increase in revenue by fiscal year 2030, targeting approximately INR 230 billion, up from around INR 106 billion in fiscal year 2025. The growth strategy is anchored on three key drivers: expansion of Carbon Black capacity, entry into new tire categories for the Indian market, and scaling up operations in the Off-Highway Tire (OHT) segment.

The company is investing INR 35 billion over the next three years to support these initiatives. By fiscal year 2030, the Carbon Black business is projected to contribute around 10 percent of BKT’s revenue by fiscal year 2030, while the new tire categories are expected to account for approximately 20 percent of revenues by the same period. BKT aims to generate around 70 percent of its revenue from OHT.
