JOST Werke SE, a Germany-based manufacturer of safety-critical systems for commercial vehicles, has expanded its presence in India following the acquisition of Netherlands-based hydraulic systems manufacturer Hyva in February 2025 for USD 398 million. The acquisition supports JOST’s strategy to increase its market reach in India’s commercial vehicle sector and strengthen its offerings in transport, agriculture, and construction applications.
Hyva operates four production sites in India, each focused on different product lines. A 220,000 square metre facility in Pune manufactures tippers and refuse collection bodies (RCBs). Hyva also produces tippers at two additional sites—an 11,500 square metre plant in Jamshedpur and an 18,600 square metre facility in Bangalore. Its 11,000 square metre site in Mumbai is dedicated to producing JT and PT valves.
JOST currently operates two manufacturing facilities in India. Its plant in Jamshedpur, established under JOST India Auto Components (P) Ltd., produces fifth wheels, axles, suspensions, and other transport-related components. The second facility, located near Chennai, manufactures agricultural equipment such as front loaders and backhoes under the Quicke brand. With a growing commercial vehicle market and a strong presence of both global and domestic OEMs in India, JOST aims to support the automotive industry with a focus on safety, comfort, reliability, and environmental standards.
“Hyva’s hydraulic expertise empowers us to accelerate ‘Make in India’ ambitions, deliver tailored solutions for rugged Indian operating conditions, and strengthen collaborations with domestic OEMs,” said Pradeep Gorur Sheshagiri, Managing Director of JOST India,
“The integration of JOST and Hyva’s product portfolios creates a significantly broader range of solutions, enabling us to better serve our customers and end-users,” said Jeffrey Zuidgeest, Regional Director – India, BU Components, Hyva.
Hyva has a presence in over 110 countries and holds an estimated 40 percent global share in hydraulic tipping cylinders. The acquisition is expected to enhance JOST’s access to key market segments in India, supported by Hyva’s extensive local manufacturing and service network.
JOST Werke SE is a manufacturer of safety-critical systems for commercial vehicles and operates in more than 25 countries. Its recent acquisitions include ROCKINGER, TRIDEC, Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems, Alö, Crenlo do Brasil, and LH Lift. With Hyva now part of its portfolio, JOST aims to deepen its involvement in India’s transport and agricultural equipment markets.
