GEMO, a manufacturer of flexible shafts and helix cables, has formed a joint venture with ASK Automotive Ltd. in New Delhi, India, to manufacture sunroof cables for local original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers in the passenger car sector. Operations are planned to begin in early 2026.

The new entity will operate under the brand name GEMO and will combine the company’s technological expertise in flexible shafts and helix cables with ASK Automotive’s local market knowledge. The venture aims to serve growing demand for comfort and equipment-oriented automotive components, including electric sunroofs, in the Indian market.

GEMO will set up a new manufacturing facility in India to support this JV. The site will help meet growing regional demand, reduce lead times, and strengthen partnerships with domestic and international clients.

India’s passenger vehicle production exceeds 4 million units annually, with consistent year-on-year growth. The facility is expected to reduce lead times, strengthen partnerships with domestic and international clients, and contribute to industrial development in the region.

GEMO, headquartered in Krefeld, Germany, designs and manufactures flexible shafts and helix cables used in automotive and industrial applications. The company operates production facilities in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
