Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd. and Katcon Global have established a joint venture in Mexico to manufacture advanced composite materials for the North American market. The facility will produce lightweight components intended for use in passenger and commercial vehicles, agricultural tractors, off-road vehicles, and select non-automotive applications.

The new venture builds on a 13-year collaboration between the two companies in India, which previously focused on exhaust systems and emission after-treatment products. Under the new arrangement, Tata AutoComp will contribute its proprietary technology and established customer network, while Katcon will manage local operations and provide regulatory and execution capabilities.

“This joint venture marks a significant milestone for Tata AutoComp, as it is the first time we are entering a partnership where we are contributing the core technology,” said Arvind Goel, Vice Chairman of Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd. The company’s Composite Division, which has patented composite formulations, will support the venture.

Tata AutoComp, founded in 1995 and part of the Tata Group, supplies components to original equipment manufacturers in various vehicle categories. The company operates 61 manufacturing facilities across India, North America, Latin America, Europe, and China, and employs more than 20,000 people. Its business includes 18 divisions, with nine joint ventures involving international automotive component firms.

Katcon Global, established in 1993 and headquartered in Monterrey, Mexico, provides exhaust systems, thermal insulation, and composite material solutions to the transportation sector. The company has manufacturing and R&D operations in North America, Europe, and Asia.
