Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd has formed a 50:50 joint venture with Japan’s Ichikoh Industries Ltd to acquire the Valeo Lighting Systems (VLS) business from Valeo India Pvt Ltd. Ichikoh is approximately 61.2 percent owned by Valeo, and the acquisition remains subject to definitive agreements and regulatory approvals.

The JV is aimed at serving India’s booming automotive lighting sector by offering original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) advanced, locally produced lighting technologies. Manoj Kolhatkar, Managing Director and CEO of Tata AutoComp, said that the venture will enable the company to serve a broader OEM base with an expanded product portfolio.

“With over 120 years of technological excellence, Ichikoh joining forces with Tata AutoComp, a company with strong reputational strength, positions us well to address India’s fast‑growing automotive market,” said Christophe Vilatte, Representative Director, President and CEO of Ichikoh. Ichikoh reported around JPY 124 billion in sales in fiscal year 2024.
