HBL Engineering Limited has secured a INR 541.2 million contract from West Central Railway for the survey, design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of trackside KAVACH equipment. The project spans 18 stations and level crossing gate locations across the Kota-Ruthiyai and Sogaria-Kota “C” sections, covering 166 route kilometers in the Kota division. The contract is scheduled for completion within 700 days.

With this addition, HBL Engineering’s total accumulated order book stands at INR 40.83 billion.

The KAVACH system employs RFID, GPS, and radio communication technologies for real-time monitoring and automatic safety interventions, aiming to prevent signal passing at danger, overspeeding, and collisions.

HBL Engineering operates in India across three main segments: industrial batteries, defence and aviation batteries, and electronics. The company ranks second globally in industrial nickel batteries and third in India’s VRLA lead batteries segment. It is also the sole manufacturer of PLT lead batteries in the country.

The company reported revenue of around INR 20.49 billion and a net profit of approximately INR 3.4 billion, with enhanced profitability driven by operational efficiencies in the electronics segment, which supports railway signalling and safety systems.

HBL Engineering’s headquarters and operational facilities are located in Hyderabad, Telangana, under the leadership of Dr. Aluru Jagadish Prasad.
