Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL) presented details of its ongoing and planned exploration activities for critical minerals during the National Conference on Critical Minerals held in Jabalpur. The event, organised by the Geological Survey of India (GSI), brought together officials from across the mineral sector to discuss exploration and exploitation strategies.

MECL’s Chairman and Managing Director, I. D. Narayan, stated that the company has been involved in the auctioning of 34 critical and strategic mineral blocks under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2023. He added that MECL is undertaking dedicated exploration projects for lithium, rare earth elements (REEs), and graphite in several geologically promising regions across India.

Narayan noted that MECL has modernised its operations to enhance precision and reduce the environmental impact of exploration. He also highlighted MECL’s participation in international partnerships such as Khanij Bidesh India Limited (KABIL), which aims to strengthen global supply chains for critical minerals.

“This national conference provides a vital platform for collaboration among government, academia, and industry to drive India’s leadership in sustainable and strategic mineral development,” Narayan said.

Operating under the Ministry of Mines, MECL specialises in mineral exploration and resource evaluation. The company offers geological, geophysical, and geochemical services and supports the development of domestic mineral resources.
