LMW Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding to invest INR 10.5 billion in a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore. The project was formalised on 25 November 2025 during the TN Rising Investors’ Meeting. The investment will support expansion into general manufacturing, aerospace and defence (A&D), research and development (R&D), and electronics, with production intended for programmes of Airbus and Boeing.

The planned facility is expected to support precision engineering capabilities required for global aerospace supply chains. The company’s investment is expected to generate approximately 1,330 direct jobs in Coimbatore, with further indirect opportunities across supplier networks, logistics, tooling, machining, and associated services. The facility is also expected to integrate advanced engineering and manufacturing technologies and contribute to higher-value output in India’s aerospace and defence sector.

The planned facility could enable the production of complex assemblies and critical components that require stringent international quality standards.

The memorandum of understanding was exchanged between LMW Limited and Darez Ahamed, Managing Director of Guidance. Guidance functions as the investment promotion and single-window facilitation agency under the Tamil Nadu Industries Department.

This investment builds on LMW’s existing strengths. LMW is active in textile machinery manufacturing, CNC machine tools, foundry castings and aerospace components. The company formally changed its name from Lakshmi Machine Works Limited to LMW Limited on 25 September 2024, signalling its broader focus beyond textile machinery.

Financially, LMW has shown modest growth in recent quarters. For the quarter ended 30 September 2025, LMW reported consolidated net sales of INR 8.22 billion, up roughly 6.9 percent year-on-year. Its standalone net sales over the same period stood at INR 7.76 billion, up about 3.4 percent on a year-on-year basis.

In its 2023–24 annual report, LMW emphasised strengthening its core operations to support sustainable growth, adapt to evolving customer needs, and invest in people and processes — a strategy that may underpin its ability to expand into aerospace manufacturing.

LMW Limited manufactures textile machinery, CNC machine tools, heavy castings and precision engineering components for aerospace and other industries. Given the new aerospace-focused investment in Coimbatore, the company is positioning itself to play a significant role in India’s evolving aerospace and defence manufacturing sector.
