Titagarh Rail Systems Limited has secured an order from Indian Railways for the design, manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning of 62 Rail Borne Maintenance Vehicles (RBMV), marking the company’s first contract in the safety and signalling systems segment. The scope of work also includes training of Indian Railways personnel, along with servicing and breakdown maintenance, extending the company’s activities beyond rolling stock manufacturing.

The company received a Letter of Acceptance from the Ministry of Railways for the project. The order is valued at INR 2.73 billion, inclusive of goods and services tax.

The RBMV is a specialised, self-propelled on-track maintenance machine designed for inspection, maintenance and restoration of railway infrastructure. The machines integrate mechanised systems for track maintenance, overhead equipment works and allied activities, aimed at improving operational safety, reliability and asset availability across the rail network. The contract covers the complete lifecycle of the equipment, from design and manufacture through to commissioning and post-delivery support.

The company said that the supply of machines is expected to commence within 15 months from the date of placement of the order or Letter of Acceptance. All machines, along with a set of spares, are scheduled to be delivered within 48 months from the same date. The order has been awarded by a domestic entity, and Titagarh Rail Systems confirmed that the contract does not constitute a related party transaction, with no interest held by the promoter or promoter group in the awarding entity.

The contract represents a strategic milestone for the company, indicating its entry into a technology-driven and safety-critical segment aligned with Indian Railways’ focus on mechanisation and modernisation of maintenance practices. The company noted that the order reinforces its expanding capabilities in integrated rail safety and maintenance solutions.
