Elgi Equipments Limited inaugurated a vacuum pump assembly line at its headquarters in Coimbatore on 09 January 2026, marking its entry into vacuum technology manufacturing. The new facility expands the company’s manufacturing scope beyond compressed air systems and supports its strategy of developing a broader portfolio of industrial air and vacuum solutions.
The assembly line has been established under a multi-year technology licensing agreement with D.V.P. Vacuum Technology S.p.A. of Italy. Under the agreement, Elgi manufactures, assembles, tests, and markets D.V.P.’s proprietary vacuum pump products in India, integrating vacuum technology into its existing industrial equipment offerings.
The company said vacuum solutions represent an adjacent segment to its compressed air business, allowing it to address a wider range of industrial applications using its existing manufacturing infrastructure. The Coimbatore facility provides end-to-end control over assembly and testing processes, enabling domestic production of vacuum pumps for the Indian market, with the potential to serve international customers over time.

Elgi stated that the assembly line has been designed in line with its Total Quality Management framework, for which the company has received the Deming Prize. The facility incorporates automated and sensor-driven assembly processes, comprehensive end-of-line testing, and ergonomically designed 360-degree swivel assembly benches to ensure consistent build quality and operational reliability.

The company added that local assembly of vacuum pumps will enhance customer support through faster response times, improved availability of spare parts, and pan-India service coverage supported by trained service engineers. Products assembled at the Coimbatore facility will be offered with a two-year warranty, supported by Elgi’s aftermarket service network.
