Hawle Valves India Private Limited, a subsidiary of the Hawle Austria Group, plans to expand its operations in Coimbatore with a new facility for manufacturing valves for drinking water and wastewater networks. The company said the project is part of a broader scale-up of its India operations, where it has been present since 2019. The planned unit is expected to support demand from water infrastructure projects and strengthen the firm’s production base in Tamil Nadu.
According to information shared during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government on 26 November 2025, the company intends to invest more than INR 1 billion in the new factory. This follows an earlier internal plan to deploy over INR 100 million for a new building to expand its existing Coimbatore operations.
“We have a plan to invest more than INR 100 million for a new factory in Coimbatore and we are looking forward to developing our business in the Indian market,” said Martin Kinauer, Head of Group Procurement, Hawle Austria Group. He added that the latest MoU covers investment “of more than INR 1 billion” to support additional capacity and jobs.
The company’s India expansion follows its acquisition in May 2023 of McWane India’s valve manufacturing division. The acquisition added specialised capabilities, retained the existing workforce and provided additional production base for Hawle’s long-term growth in the market. Hawle’s global portfolio includes valves and fittings for water distribution systems, with operations spanning 13 subsidiaries and a workforce of about 1,300 employees.
The company’s existing Coimbatore facility carries out mechanical machining, surface coating, product assembly and pressure testing for its valve product lines. These operations support the Krammer range, for which castings, finished components and elastomers are sourced from approved Indian suppliers. The facility follows quality protocols for drinking water applications, including compliance with WRAS standards for metals and plastics, and the company requires its supply base to operate under ISO 9001 systems. Supplier assessments also cover working conditions, occupational safety and environmental safeguards.
Hawle sources all raw material requirements for the existing unit from within India to meet its material specifications and maintain short supply routes. Valves produced at the facility receive epoxy coating in accordance with EN 14901-1 standards for ductile iron fittings, designed to provide long-term corrosion protection for applications in drinking water and wastewater networks.
Hawle Valves India manufactures valves for drinking water, wastewater and fire-protection networks and operates as part of the family-owned Hawle Austria Group, founded in 1948.
