Eugen Forschner GmbH began production at its new plant in Chennai, India, on 24 February 2026, marking the start of operations at the facility and the company’s entry into local manufacturing in the Indian market. The plant forms part of the company’s expansion through its subsidiary Forschner Automotive India Private Limited, incorporated in October 2025.
The start of production was attended by the company’s Director Global Operations, reflecting the strategic importance of the Chennai site within the group’s international manufacturing network. The facility is located in SIPCOT Industrial Park Phase II in Sriperumbudur, Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu.
Production at the facility has begun with low-voltage (LV) cables. The company said that future phases of development will include the addition of high-voltage (HV) cables and Power Distribution Units (PDUs), components used in electric mobility systems.
The Chennai plant supports the company’s regional supply capabilities for mobility-related components, including products used in electrified vehicles. Forschner also noted that colleagues from Albania supported the setup and ramp-up of the facility, while newly recruited employees in India contributed to the operational launch.
Forschner Automotive India Private Limited is classified as a subsidiary of a foreign company and operates from Sriperumbudur, a major automotive manufacturing cluster in southern India. The board of directors includes Marc Eckert, Dietmar Geiger and Jayalakshmi Udayakumar.
