Salzer Electronics Limited announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Wirepas to integrate the Wirepas Certified platform into its smart electricity meters. The partnership aims to expand the company’s smart metering portfolio and support utilities with networked metering systems.

According to a press release issued by Salzer Electronics Limited, the agreement integrates the Wirepas Certified platform into the company’s smart electricity meters to enable wireless mesh connectivity across metering networks. The platform is designed to support electricity utilities in managing data transmission across urban, rural, and mixed infrastructure environments.

The Wirepas Certified platform allows meters to operate as a self-optimising collaborative network that automatically adjusts to maintain uninterrupted data flow. Utilities can deploy the system without extensive additional infrastructure, supporting energy management and operational monitoring.

“Smart metering is about empowering utilities with accurate, reliable and adaptable technology,” said Lakshminarayana (LN), Vice President at Salzer. “With the Wirepas Certified platform, we can offer solutions that not only meet current industry standards but are prepared for the challenges of tomorrow’s grids. This partnership strengthens our vision of creating truly intelligent energy systems.”

“Salzer’s adoption of the Wirepas Certified platform demonstrates a forward-looking approach to smart metering. It’s about building networks that utilities can trust for years to come,” said Sebastian Pellorce, Senior Vice President AMI India at Wirepas.

Salzer stated that the adaptive capabilities of the platform allow connected meters to coordinate communication within the network, supporting resilience, scalability, and operational efficiency. The system is intended to help utilities maintain service continuity while reducing operational complexity.

Salzer Electronics Limited manufactures electrical products including switchgear, wires and cables, and energy management solutions. The company operates four in-house manufacturing facilities in Coimbatore and develops technologies including smart metering systems and connected energy management platforms.
