Witzenmann India, the Indian subsidiary of Germany-based Witzenmann GmbH, commenced construction of a new production and administrative facility in Palur/Oragadam, southern India, following a ceremonial groundbreaking held on 26 February 2026. The new site will replace the company’s existing Chennai facility, which has been in operation for more than 25 years, with gradual relocation scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028.
The new facility is intended to strengthen, expand and future-proof Witzenmann India’s local production of passenger car and commercial vehicle components, as well as industrial products such as expansion joints, metal hoses and metal bellows. The company said the development will create conditions for more efficient processes, reduced costs and additional capacity to support further growth in India’s manufacturing sector.
“Witzenmann India has been operating successfully in Chennai for many years. With the new site, we are transferring our existing activities to a modern, scalable infrastructure, thereby laying the foundation for further growth. It represents the consistent use of location advantages and the long-term strengthening of our competitiveness – in India and across the entire Witzenmann Group,” said Philip Paschen, COO/CDO of Witzenmann.
The new production and administrative complex is being built on a plot of approximately 90,000 square metres in proximity to the current Chennai site. The first construction phase will comprise a built-up area of around 20,000 square metres, with expansion potential of about 30,000 square metres. The overall construction phase is scheduled to run until mid-2027, and the gradual relocation of all production units is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
The facility is located in a growing industrial park around 45 minutes by car from the current plant and near Chennai’s future international airport. The company said the relocation is aligned with emerging market and growth potential in vehicle components for both conventional drive technologies and electric mobility.
Witzenmann GmbH is a Germany-based manufacturer of piping systems, metal hoses, expansion joints, metal bellows, pipe supports and vehicle components for the building, mobility and industrial sectors. The family-owned company employs around 4,400 people in 16 countries.
