Siemens Limited and Tata STRIVE have jointly implemented a Dual Vocational Education and Training (VET) program that has reached over 120,000 beneficiaries in 279 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) over the past eight years. The initiative, based on the German vocational training model, aims to better align ITI training with industry requirements.
The program enhances ITI education through two key strategies: upgrading instructors with inquiry- and project-based teaching methods and partnering with local industries to provide practical in-plant training for students. This approach is designed to create a sustainable pipeline of skilled workers suited to industry needs.
According to Ameya Vanjari, Chief Operating Officer of Tata STRIVE, the program is intended to strengthen the ITI ecosystem by facilitating closer collaboration between industry and trainees.
Sunil Mathur, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Limited, noted that the company’s CSR projects are focused on long-term sustainable societal impact, as reflected in the outcomes of this initiative.
S. Ramadorai, Chairman of the Advisory Board at Tata STRIVE, described the collaboration as a scalable model demonstrating the role of industry participation in transforming vocational training in India.
Siemens Limited, a subsidiary of Siemens AG, operates in sectors including electrification, automation, and digitalization. Tata STRIVE is a social impact initiative dedicated to skill development and employability enhancement.
