Pavna Industries Limited has entered into a joint venture agreement with Taiwan-based SmartChip Microelectronic Corporation (SMC) to develop electronic lock systems and electric vehicle (EV) components. Pavna will hold an 80 percent equity stake in the venture, while SMC will hold 20 percent.
Under the agreement, Pavna will provide operational, manufacturing, and procurement expertise and manage the venture’s operations in India. SMC will contribute its technical skills and research and development capabilities in areas including automotive e-lock systems, EV components such as motor controllers, throttle bodies, dashboards for two- and three-wheelers, EV charging piles, and electronic locking solutions for residential and commercial use.

Pavna Industries Limited, formerly known as Pavna Locks Limited, was incorporated in 1994. The company manufactures automotive components for passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, commercial vehicles, and off-road vehicles. It operates manufacturing plants in Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), Aurangabad (Maharashtra), and Pantnagar (Uttarakhand), with another facility under development in Hosur (Tamil Nadu). Its product portfolio includes ignition switches, fuel tank caps, latches, auto locks, switches, oil pumps, throttle bodies, fuel cocks, and casting components. The company supplies to domestic original equipment manufacturers and exports to markets including Italy, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Sudan, the United States, and Bangladesh.
SmartChip Microelectronic Corporation is engaged in semiconductor and electronic circuit design and development, supplying electronic modules and components. It specializes in electronic lock functions and EV-related components and will leverage its technical expertise in the joint venture with Pavna in India.
