Tata Electronics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Taiwan-based Himax Technologies and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) to collaborate on display semiconductors and ultralow power AI sensing technologies. The partnership will focus on chip design, manufacturing, and system-level solutions for the Indian and global markets.
The agreement builds on a 2024 collaboration between Tata Electronics and PSMC to establish semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India. Under this new MoU, the three companies will work together on “Made in India” display semiconductor solutions while addressing global demand. The partnership aims to enhance supply chain resilience and expand market reach.
Randhir Thakur, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Electronics, stated that the collaboration would support the development of semiconductor products for customers by combining Tata Electronics’ manufacturing capabilities with Himax’s expertise in display semiconductors and AI sensing, along with PSMC’s fabrication technologies.
Himax CEO Jordan Wu highlighted India’s growing role in electronics manufacturing and said the collaboration would bring the company’s semiconductor expertise to the Indian market. PSMC President Martin Chu noted that the company’s semiconductor fabrication technologies align with India’s manufacturing requirements and provide opportunities to expand in domestic and international markets.
Tata Electronics, established in 2020 as part of the Tata Group, operates in semiconductor assembly, testing, and electronics manufacturing. Himax Technologies specializes in display imaging processing technologies, and PSMC is a semiconductor foundry producing memory and logic chips.
