Nidec Corporation has commenced production at its Orchard Hub manufacturing campus in the Kotur-Belur Industrial Area in Hubli-Dharwad, Karnataka. The facility was inaugurated on 14 November 2025 and represents a major expansion of the company’s manufacturing operations in India.

The Orchard Hub spans 50 acres and comprises six manufacturing plants and an experience centre. Construction began in September 2023, and the site has now entered full-scale production of wind turbine generators, battery energy storage systems (BESS), electric vehicle (EV) motors and chargers, and high-efficiency drives.

The facility incorporates automation, data-driven controls, and sustainability measures including solar power systems, microgrids, and water recycling, with a target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2028.

The development involved an investment of USD 55 million. The campus currently employs more than 350 people, with plans to create about 2,000 additional direct and indirect jobs as operations expand. The site follows the company’s 3Q6S manufacturing system to support quality, safety, and efficiency improvements.

“The Orchard Hub reflects Nidec’s global vision in India, combining Japanese precision with Indian engineering,” said Hiroshi Kobe, Chairman of Nidec Corporation. “With USD 55 million investment, Orchard Hub symbolises our commitment to India’s industrial transformation,” said Michael Briggs, President of Nidec Motion & Energy.

“This is a defining moment for Nidec India, positioning India at the heart of global manufacturing,” said Girish D Kulkarni, Country Managing Director of Nidec Motion & Energy India.

“Just a few months ago, I had visited this location to perform the ground-breaking ceremony for Nidec’s new facility. Opening a major campus within just five months is a strong indicator of the company’s rapid growth and development trajectory. It is noteworthy that a Japanese company has invested nearly INR 6 billion in this region and has provided employment to 87 percent of the workforce from North Karnataka,” said M. B. Patil, Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, Karnataka.

Nidec Corporation manufactures electric motors, generators, industrial automation systems, and energy technologies for applications in renewable energy, mobility, and industrial sectors.
