Balu Forge Industries Limited has been inducted into the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) supply chain, enabling it to manufacture and supply high-precision defence components to NATO member states. The development expands the company’s defence manufacturing footprint beyond India and positions it within global artillery and advanced ammunition programmes.
The induction allows Balu Forge to produce high-specification artillery shell bodies and complex forged components for NATO requirements. The company stated that the certification covers mission-critical defence components and marks a formal entry into the alliance’s approved supplier base.
“Our induction into the NATO industrial supply chain is a strong validation of Balu Forge’s vision of Make in India for the world,” said Trimaan Chandock, Executive Director, Balu Forge Industries Limited. “This milestone reflects the depth of our technical capability and the confidence global defence ecosystems place in Indian manufacturing excellence,” he added.
The company’s manufacturing capabilities include advanced closed-die forging processes and precision machining using automated, high-speed multi-axis computer numerical control machines, including seven-axis and eleven-axis systems. These capabilities are intended to support the production of components with tight tolerances and complex geometries required for modern defence platforms.
Balu Forge also has in-house heat treatment and alloy optimisation programmes, which are intended to enhance resistance to thermal fluctuations and high-impact stress. These processes are aimed at improving durability and performance of forged components used in modern defence systems.
“Our fully integrated model encompassing advanced forging, precision machining, heat treatment, and metallurgical validation under one roof enables us to deliver complex, mission critical components with consistency, scalability, and uncompromising quality,” Chandock said. He added that this end-to-end capability positions the company as a supplier for global defence and artillery programmes.
Balu Forge Industries Limited is an Indian precision engineering company engaged in the manufacture of forged and machined components for sectors including automotive, industrial equipment, aerospace and defence.
