Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) will add a third production line at its second manufacturing plant in Tapukara, Alwar district, Rajasthan, with operations scheduled to commence in 2028. The new line will have an annual production capacity of 670,000 units, increasing the total capacity of the plant to 2.01 million units.
HMSI will invest approximately INR 15 billion to acquire 74,000 square metres of land adjacent to the existing facility to support the expansion. The new production line will be designed to manufacture a combined total of 670,000 units of 125cc and 160cc scooters and light motorcycles and is expected to create 2,000 jobs.
The Tapukara facility began production in July 2011 with an initial capacity of 600,000 units, which was increased to 1.2 million units in March 2012. Since 2023, the plant has introduced automation technologies in machining processes to improve efficiency, resulting in a current capacity of 1.3 million units. HMSI plans to further increase this capacity to 1.34 million units before the end of the fiscal year ending 31 March 2027.

In addition to the expansion at the Tapukara plant, HMSI is planning to increase production capacity across its other facilities. Upon completion, the company’s total annual production capacity in India is expected to increase from 6.25 million units to 8 million units by 2028.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., established in August 1999 and headquartered in IMT Manesar, Gurugram district, Haryana, manufactures and sells motorcycles and scooters. The company operates four plants in India, including Manesar in Haryana with a capacity of 380,000 units per year, Tapukara in Rajasthan with 1.3 million units per year, Narasapura in Karnataka with 2.6 million units per year, and Vithalapur in Gujarat with 1.97 million units per year, with a combined annual production capacity of 6.25 million units and employment of approximately 24,000 associates.
