Igus, a manufacturer of motion plastics, has opened a new 92,000 sq ft manufacturing facility near Budigere in Bengaluru, India. This expansion, which includes over ₹100 crores (approximately 12 million euros) in investment, aims to enhance the company’s production capabilities to support growing demand in sectors like semiconductors and renewable energy. The facility is part of Igus’s broader strategy to increase its presence in India, with plans to establish logistics and assembly centers in Pune, Gurugram, and Noida.
According to Igus in a recent interview with Business World, ₹20 crores of the investment was directed toward setting up the factory, another ₹10 crores went into acquiring injection molding machines, and ₹20 crores was allocated for manufacturing processes. The company emphasized the facility’s focus on advanced technology, including digitalization and artificial intelligence, to improve production efficiency.
Igus India, a subsidiary of the Germany-based Igus GmbH, has operated in the country since 2000. The company reports having over 19,000 customers in India and manufacturing 99% of its products domestically. With an inventory of 125,000 parts and 2,497 new products introduced annually, Igus continues to expand its offerings, particularly in the areas of low-cost automation and solutions designed for CO2 reduction.
The company’s continued investment in India underscores its goal to offer advanced solutions aligned with global sustainability goals, while also meeting local market demands.
