Universal Robots, a Denmark-based collaborative robot manufacturer, has opened a service and repair center in Bengaluru to cater exclusively to its customers in India. Located at the company’s local headquarters in Hebbal, the center became operational on November 25.

The facility is designed to provide faster repair and refurbishment services for the company’s entire range of collaborative robots (cobots) while offering localized support. It also includes provisions for certified training programs, maintenance services, and access to digital support platforms.

Anurag Thakur, Vice President of Services at Universal Robots, stated that the center is part of a strategic investment aimed at reducing customer downtime and improving productivity.

The initiative aligns with Universal Robots’ broader service plans, known as UR Care, which encompass 24/7 support, fleet management tools, and proactive maintenance to enhance the performance and longevity of its cobots.

Universal Robots’ Regional Director for South Asia, Virupakshappa Hovale, highlighted the growing demand for automation across various industries in India and noted that the new facility positions the company to better serve the local market.

Universal Robots has sold over 90,000 cobots worldwide and is part of Teradyne Robotics, a division of Teradyne.
