Brother Machine Tools has officially inaugurated its manufacturing facility in Tumakuru, Karnataka, marking a significant step in its operations within the Indian market. According to a company announcement, the plant is designed to enhance production capacity and improve supply chain efficiency, enabling faster delivery of products to customers in India.
The facility, located within the Japanese Industrial Park in Tumakuru, is equipped with precision manufacturing technology to ensure high-quality production and incorporates measures to support environmental sustainability.
The plant’s opening follows the company’s announcement at IMTEX 2023, with construction reportedly completed ahead of schedule by September 2023. Production of the Speedio series of compact machining centers began soon after, with the first locally produced machine, the Speedio S700Bd1, delivered to V Oak Engineers Pvt. Ltd., based in Thane, Maharashtra.
Makoto Hoshi and another senior executive from Brother Japan visited the facility as part of the operational launch activities. During their visit, they met with the local team and participated in discussions regarding the company’s business goals in India. The event allowed employees to engage directly with the leadership team, according to the release.
Brother Machine Tools India’s operations in Tumakuru aim to meet the increasing demand for machining solutions in the Indian market, aligning with the “Make in India” initiative. The facility is expected to improve lead times for Indian customers and strengthen the company’s role in the local manufacturing sector.
