The Government of Karnataka has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) to support the development of a space manufacturing park and a Center of Excellence for Space Technology. The agreements were formalized on 6 May 2025 in Bengaluru in the presence of senior government officials and IN-SPACe representatives.

The MoUs aim to facilitate the creation of infrastructure to support private space sector enterprises, including manufacturing clusters and research and development facilities. According to the state government, the initiative is part of its broader plan to strengthen the space technology ecosystem by enabling access to testing facilities and encouraging innovation in advanced space technologies.

The agreements were signed by Dr. Ekroop Caur, Secretary to the Government, Department of Electronics, IT, BT, and S&T, and Lochan Sehra, Joint Secretary, IN-SPACe, in the presence of the Chief Secretary of Karnataka and Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman , IN-SPACe. “These MoUs mark a significant step towards transforming Karnataka into a global destination for space technologies. We are committed to fostering innovation and supporting the growth of the private space sector,” said Caur.

In the past 18 months, Karnataka’s Department of Electronics, IT, BT, and S&T has launched several measures to boost the space industry, including the establishment of the Center of Excellence for Space Technologies and the release of the draft Karnataka Space Technology Policy 2024–29.
