GE Aerospace will invest USD 14 million to expand capacity at its Pune manufacturing facility as the site completes ten years of operations. The investment will upgrade manufacturing processes and automation to support advanced engine components and follows the USD 30 million committed in 2024.

The Pune facility began as a multi-business manufacturing site and has grown into a specialised aerospace parts supplier for GE Aerospace’s global commercial engine operations. The site is supported by a network of more than 300 suppliers in India, forming part of the company’s broader base of more than 2,200 suppliers across the country.

“Our team in Pune has built strong capabilities, and with the support of a country-wide network of suppliers, has delivered components for some of our most advanced commercial jet engines, with safety and quality at the forefront,” said Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of the Pune facility, GE Aerospace. “This investment reflects our commitment to the Make in India initiative and to advancing India’s role in global aerospace manufacturing.”

Over the past decade, the facility has trained more than 5,000 production associates in precision manufacturing processes. It holds ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications and operates on FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace’s lean operating model focused on improving safety, quality, and process efficiency. The model has enabled waste reduction, higher productivity, and shorter lead times on key component lines.

The expansion will deepen automation and advanced manufacturing technologies as the site enhances its role in GE Aerospace’s global supply chain and long-term commercial engine programmes.

GE Aerospace has been associated with India’s aviation sector for more than 40 years. Its engines power major Indian airlines and several Indian Air Force aircraft. The company also operates the India Technology Centre in Bengaluru, which develops aviation technologies for global programmes.
