JOOL Group, a Sweden-based furniture manufacturer, plans to establish a furniture manufacturing unit at Ramayapatnam in Andhra Pradesh with a proposed investment of INR 3 billion. The project is expected to support the development of a dedicated furniture cluster near the Ramayapatnam Port and strengthen the state’s position in furniture production and allied industries.

According to the available information, the company intends to import timber from Norway and Sweden to produce doors, windows, wooden pallets, boxes for agricultural storage, and modular housing structures. The facility will use prefabrication technologies to manufacture components for housing and building applications. The company has also discussed future plans to set up a prefabricated housing unit in the region.

During meetings held on the sidelines of the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, discussions were held on opportunities in sustainable forestry, woodworking practices, and the potential development of a 500-acre furniture cluster city at Ramayapatnam. The proposed cluster is expected to leverage the port’s connectivity for access to export markets and raw material imports.

The project aims to generate employment in furniture manufacturing and related sectors, supported by the region’s coastal location and availability of skilled labour. It is also expected to contribute to the establishment of supply chains for timber-based manufacturing within the state.
