ABB is expanding its manufacturing footprint in Bengaluru through new facilities aimed at supporting sectors including data centres, metro systems, renewable energy, infrastructure and metals. The company has begun construction of an integrated Motion facility in Peenya and inaugurated the Electrification and Automation Nelamangala Campus 2 on Kunigal Road.
The expansion includes new shopfloors, additional product lines, service and training centres, and precision equipment manufacturing across its Electrification, Motion and Automation businesses. The development builds on ABB’s existing manufacturing and technology operations in Karnataka, where Bengaluru serves as a key hub for its activities in India.
With the latest investment, ABB will operate three manufacturing locations with multiple shopfloors in the state and employ more than 3,000 people across its manufacturing operations. The new facilities are intended to support demand from infrastructure and industrial sectors.
“This expansion reflects ABB’s long-term commitment to India and our local-for-local strategy. By strengthening our manufacturing and technology capabilities in Karnataka, we are bringing advanced ABB technologies closer to customers, enabling industries to improve energy efficiency, digitalize operations and support India’s infrastructure growth,” said Sanjeev Sharma, Country Head and Managing Director, ABB India.
ABB’s Motion business is expanding its Peenya campus with two new manufacturing facilities covering 6,100 square metres. The site will accommodate up to 300 employees once fully operational and will manufacture energy efficient motors including flameproof designs, roller table variants and smoke ventilation models, along with low-voltage drives and programmable logic controllers. The campus will also include a service and training centre equipped with digital tools and remote diagnostics to support equipment throughout its lifecycle.
At the Nelamangala site, ABB has established a 16,470 square metre multi-business manufacturing hub to expand production for its Electrification and Automation divisions. The facility will manufacture products including smart power technologies, system interface units, gas analyser system integrations, excitation systems and high-power rectifiers, and will also house service laboratories and blending operations. Manufacturing of power management solutions for data centres at the campus is expected to increase nearly tenfold, while ABB’s low and medium voltage systems currently power more than 30 percent of India’s hyperscale data centres.
ABB recently announced an investment of USD 75 million in 2026 to expand manufacturing and research and development activities in India, creating more than 300 skilled jobs in engineering, operations and research. The investment follows spending of more than USD 35 million in 2025 to strengthen manufacturing and R&D capabilities.
ABB develops electrification and automation technologies for industrial and infrastructure applications. The company has more than 140 years of industrial operations and employs about 110,000 people worldwide.
