ESAB India has installed a Zeiss Sigma 360 Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM) equipped with an Oxford Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) system at its Filler Metals Laboratory in Chennai. This advanced setup strengthens the company’s research and development capabilities in welding consumables and materials analysis.
The Zeiss Sigma 360 FE-SEM enables high-resolution imaging and analysis of surface morphology and microstructure at the nanoscale. Paired with the Oxford EDS system, it allows for simultaneous imaging and elemental mapping, facilitating detailed microstructural and chemical characterization of samples.
According to the company, the integrated system will aid in the development of new welding alloys and consumables, optimize manufacturing processes, and reduce development time.
