Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) convened its Annual Supplier Meet 2025, highlighting the strategic role of its supplier network in supporting future growth plans and global manufacturing integration. The event brought together over 400 supplier partners and reaffirmed DICV’s long-term vision, including its alignment with India’s evolving manufacturing capabilities and global supply chain dynamics.
The gathering emphasized DICV’s “Aspiration 2030,” a multi-year strategic roadmap built around product innovation, supplier-led excellence, and market expansion. With India projected to become the second-largest market for heavy-duty trucks by 2030, DICV outlined its continued focus on proactive supplier engagement and infrastructure investment.
A central theme of the event was the commitment to “Innovate for India and the World,” reflecting DICV’s approach of leveraging India’s manufacturing strengths to serve both domestic and global markets. The company emphasized that local capabilities, when paired with consistent quality and engineering support, can meet the evolving needs of international customers.
DICV also outlined its transition toward a self-certified supplier ecosystem, where qualified suppliers take greater responsibility for quality assurance and compliance. This model is intended to accelerate decision-making, reduce bottlenecks, and promote accountability across the supply chain, while maintaining global standards.
In addition, DICV is expanding its Product Leadership and Network 3.0 initiative, which focuses on enhancing reach, reliability, and responsiveness in its operations. This includes optimizing distribution networks, strengthening product offerings, and building systems that are more agile and customer-centric in response to shifting market demands.
Last year DICV marked ten years of successful operations at its Consolidation Center (CC) in India. Since its launch in 2014, the CC has exported over 10,000 containers and 300 million parts to Daimler Truck plants worldwide, becoming a vital pillar in the company’s global supply chain — recognized for quality, efficiency, and reliability.
Michael Moebius took over as President and Chief Procurement & Supply Chain Officer of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) on November 1, 2024, succeeding Muthu Maruthachalam C. Moebius, a Daimler veteran with over 30 years of global experience, returned to DICV after leading quality management at Daimler Truck Asia in Japan, where he spearheaded initiatives like ‘Proactive Sensing’ for early failure detection.
DICV noted that Indian suppliers are increasingly contributing to design, tooling, and engineering refinement, enabling them to meet global benchmarks. Some suppliers have expanded their scope to serve international ventures like Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, Daimler’s Japanese subsidiary.
The event also reflected the growing importance of India in global sourcing strategies, particularly amid the broader “China + 1” diversification trend. Suppliers expressed confidence in India’s ability to scale manufacturing output and meet higher technical standards, further solidifying its role in global value chains.
DICV reiterated its focus on building a supplier ecosystem that is agile, collaborative, and aligned with international expectations on cost, quality, and delivery. The company stated it will continue to invest in technology and digital tools to support supplier readiness and global competitiveness.
With over 400 partners in its network, DICV sees supplier engagement as a core enabler of its goal to “Make in India for the World,” combining local strength with a global outlook.
