Jupiter Wagons Ltd (JWL) has secured a contract worth INR 2,424.1 million from GATX India Private Limited for the manufacture and supply of 583 specialised freight wagons. The order covers a mix of wagon types designed for transporting bulk commodities, passenger vehicles and containerised cargo.
The order includes BLSS container carrier wagons, ACT2 bi-level SUV carriers, BOXNHL high-capacity open wagons, and BVCM bulk commodity units. The BLSS wagons are designed for ISO containers with a high axle load capacity, while ACT2 units can carry up to 10 SUVs per wagon. The BOXNHL wagons, with a payload capacity exceeding 70 tonnes, are intended for heavy-haul commodities such as coal and iron ore.
