ABB India has launched the ACS380-E machinery drive, designed for automation-centric machine building and offering dual Ethernet ports, integrated cybersecurity and USB-C commissioning to speed installation and firmware updates. The drive is targeted at applications such as packaging systems, conveyors, extrusion lines and multi-axis machinery and is intended to simplify machine integration and future compliance with regulatory cybersecurity requirements.
According to a press release issued by ABB India, the ACS380-E was introduced at ENGIMACH 2025 in Gandhinagar on 3 December 2025 and will be available in India in ratings up to 22 kW at 400 V. “As the Indian industrial landscape evolves with advanced automation and the rising need for energy efficiency, it is crucial for variable speed drives to adapt effortlessly to diverse industrial applications,” said AR Madhusudan, President and Local Division Manager, Drive Products, ABB India.
The drive features dual built-in Ethernet ports with selectable protocols as standard, removing the need for separate option modules and reducing wiring and installation complexity. It supports cold commissioning via USB-C that permits configuration and firmware updates without powering the unit, and offers firmware access via Ethernet to help keep devices current with cybersecurity updates.
Engineered for machine builders across sectors including textile, cable and wire, plastics and intralogistics, the ACS380-E supports common rotary motor types across global voltage ranges from 100 V to 600 V, the company said. The product is designed for compact installation in confined cabinet spaces and for seamless integration with major automation systems, including ABB’s AC500 programmable logic controller and other vendors’ platforms.
ABB said the drive is compatible with Drive Composer software, including Drive Composer 3, enabling offline configuration, monitoring and adaptive programming tools to aid maintenance and commissioning. The company highlighted that standardised connectivity and embedded cybersecurity capabilities aim to reduce total installation time and improve uptime through simpler integration and streamlined updates.
ABB is a technology company that supplies electrification and automation products and services. The company employed around 110,000 people worldwide and its shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange (ABBN) and Nasdaq Stockholm (ABB).
