Thermotech Research Laboratory (TRL) inaugurated a new test facility in Neemrana, India, aimed at strengthening third-party testing infrastructure for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) products. The facility is expected to support certification testing requirements across India and neighbouring markets while expanding research and development capabilities.

The development follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in 2025 between TRL and AHRI, under which TRL has been qualified to operate as an AHRI-contracted third-party laboratory for certification testing in India and nearby countries.

The facility is equipped with environmental chambers designed to test a range of HVACR equipment, including large-capacity systems and refrigerants. In addition to certification testing, the laboratory is designed to support experimental development and specialised technical services, including validation of thermal management components such as fin and tube heat exchangers and advanced coatings.

The inauguration ceremony included a ribbon-cutting attended by Krushna Chandra Panigrahy, Director General of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), and Henry Hwong, Senior Vice President of Global Operations at the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), along with other officials from AHRI.

TRL also has a mandate to provide technical training for engineers and technicians in the HVACR sector. Its research activities are focused on improving thermal efficiency and developing solutions for applications such as data centre cooling and electric vehicle (EV) battery thermal management.

Thermotech Research Laboratory operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of KRN Heat Exchanger and Refrigeration Limited, which recently transitioned to a public limited company. The laboratory was established with an authorised and paid-up share capital of INR 99 million, and in January 2026, KRN approved an unsecured loan of INR 100 million to support its operations and development.

The facility is located in the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP) within the RIICO Industrial Area in Neemrana, close to KRN’s manufacturing operations. It is intended to function in coordination with other group entities, including KRN HVAC Products.

Thermotech Research Laboratory provides testing, validation, and technical support services for HVACR equipment, focusing on certification, research, and skill development.
