Dixon Electro Appliances, a subsidiary of Dixon Technologies, has launched a new manufacturing operation in collaboration with Nokia to produce fixed broadband devices at its facility in Noida, India. The facility, which aims to meet the increasing demand for broadband connectivity in India, is set to produce up to 10 million broadband devices annually, supporting high-speed internet access of up to 1 gigabit per second for Indian households.

The partnership between Dixon Electro and Nokia will focus on producing GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Networks), 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), and Mesh Wi-Fi devices for Indian broadband operators. These devices are expected to serve the country’s growing adoption of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and FWA technologies. The facility is anticipated to generate approximately 3,000 jobs, contributing to local economic development.

Atul B. Lall, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Dixon Technologies, noted that the collaboration underscores Dixon’s commitment to expanding India’s electronics manufacturing sector. Nokia’s R&D Center in Chennai will lead the design and development efforts for these broadband devices, while Dixon Electro will handle the manufacturing.

The production of these devices aligns with India’s “Make in India” initiative, aimed at fostering domestic manufacturing and supporting digital infrastructure. Sandy Motley, Nokia’s Vice President of Fixed Networks, expressed that Nokia’s involvement aims to support India’s digital transition, leveraging its established expertise in FTTH and FWA technologies.

According to Nokia, the company currently supports more than half of India’s FTTH infrastructure. Dixon Technologies, which operates 23 manufacturing facilities across India, provides electronics manufacturing services to over 100 clients. Through this partnership, both companies aim to strengthen broadband connectivity solutions available to Indian homes.
