Komax India, a provider of automated wire processing solutions, has inaugurated a new, expanded Application Center in Gurgaon, increasing its operational footprint from 800 square feet to over 7,000 square feet within a year. The facility is focused on developing and producing localized application solutions tailored to customer-specific manufacturing requirements.
The expansion is part of the Switzerland-based company’s broader scale-up in India. In recent years, the company has established Komax Testing India Pvt Ltd and Komax CoDE India (Center of Digital Excellence), both located in Pune. The company has also increased its sales and service workforce across multiple regions in India.
Komax Testing India Pvt Ltd, the company’s first manufacturing facility in India, is located in Pune on a 30,000 square foot site. Operational since 2022, the plant produces test equipment such as test tables and modules for wire harness manufacturers, enabling shorter lead times and customization. This proximity to customers is expected to support further business expansion.
The inauguration event in Gurgaon was attended by Tobias Rölz, Executive VP BU Market & Digital Services, and Roger Bitterlin, VP Sales Asia (excluding China). Komax Automation India Managing Director Ramanathan Murugappan led the expansion initiative.
“In the last years we significantly extended our presence in India. Not only could we extend the team with many more highly qualified sales and service colleagues accross the country, we opened our Komax Testing India Pvt Ltd plant and our Komax CoDE India (Center of Digital Excellence), both in Pune, and opened and already extended our application center in Gurgaon dedicated to develop and produce cutting-edge local application solutions, tailored to meet the specific needs of our Indian customers,” stated Rölz.
Komax representatives also met with Maya Tissafi, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to India and Bhutan, to discuss the company’s growth plans in India, the recently signed TEPA, and opportunities for expanding bilateral collaboration.
The EFTA states (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Principality of Liechtenstein) and India have signed a landmark Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) which eliminates the majority of customs duties on industrial products. “With the implementation of the TEPA free trade agreement we get many more exciting possibilities and are looking forward to the future growth in India and with our valued Indian customers across the globe. Throughout the last days I visited many exciting customers and could see, how well Switzerland’s world-class engineering and India’s growth ecosystem fit perfectly together. We are looking forward to intensify the collaboration and exchange,” stated Rölz.
Komax’s operations in India are closely aligned with the country’s rapidly growing automotive and industrial sectors. Komax began its activities in India in 1985 with the delivery of its first Kappa machine. Since then, India’s automotive industry has grown significantly, becoming the fourth largest globally by value at USD 100 billion, and is projected to reach USD 300 billion within the next five to six years. Demand for automation in wire harness production has risen sharply in this period, contributing to Komax’s sustained expansion.
Komax Automation India Private Limited (KIND), founded in 2007, has reported average annual sales growth of 15%. Its operations include six regional branches and a growing development team. The company is also involved in the electric vehicle segment and collaborates with Indian manufacturers on digitalization and quality control in crimping and wire processing.
Komax is a Switzerland-based company that provides automated wire processing solutions. It serves clients in the automotive, aerospace, industrial, and telecommunications sectors, offering equipment and systems for wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and testing.
