DF Automation & Robotics, a Malaysia-headquartered manufacturer of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs), is expanding its manufacturing footprint in India by setting up a new facility. The company recently dispatched 40 locally manufactured autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) to an automotive customer in India.

DF Automation is building a new manufacturing facility in Pune after its India team outgrew the existing office and operational space. The new factory is intended to support manufacturing, integration, and service activities.

The dispatched batch consists of 40 heavy-duty AMRs and AGVs produced in India for intralogistics operations within automotive manufacturing facilities. The company stated that manufacturing the systems locally supports faster deployment timelines and closer collaboration with customers and suppliers in the domestic ecosystem.

The AMR model supplied to the automotive customer is designed to tow multiple trolleys with a combined payload of up to 500 kilograms using a hook-type payload handler. The systems are intended to enable automated material movement across the shop floor, supporting continuous parts flow and reducing manual handling in high-volume production environments.

All robots in the deployment are powered by the company’s proprietary NavWiz operating system and DFleet fleet management platform. NavWiz enables visual programming of robot navigation paths, while DFleet is designed to coordinate multiple robots operating simultaneously within a facility. The company indicated that these systems are intended to support scalable deployments across complex manufacturing layouts.

DF Automation has established an Indian subsidiary, DF Automation Solution India Private Limited, headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra. The Indian entity is fully registered to undertake factory, manufacturing, and service operations, underscoring the company’s commitment to long-term operations in the country and to serving customers across automotive, warehousing, and semiconductor assembly segments.

In January 2026, DF Automation & Robotics also signed a memorandum of understanding with Sieger to collaborate on automation and robotics projects in India. The partnership is intended to align engineering capability and execution focus to address operational requirements in manufacturing environments, with an emphasis on reliability, safety, and efficiency.

DF Automation & Robotics was co-founded in 2012 by Dr. Yeong Che Fai, Ricky Yap, and Tan Ping Hua as a spin-off from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). The Indian expansion is led by Sagar Jadhao, the Director of DF Automation Solution India Pvt. Ltd. Based in Pune. The company designs and manufactures AMRs and AGVs for industrial applications, with a product portfolio that includes the Zalpha series for towing and lifting applications up to 500 kilograms, the Titan series for heavy-duty loads of up to one tonne, and the Zoei series of omnidirectional robots designed for operation in confined factory spaces.
