Frigosystem S.R.L., an Italian manufacturer of industrial chillers and temperature control systems, has inaugurated its first manufacturing plant in Chennai, marking the company’s first production facility outside Italy. The new unit represents an investment of EUR 1 million (approximately INR 100 million) and is aimed at strengthening Frigosystem’s presence in India and the broader Southeast Asian region.

The facility follows the establishment of its Indian subsidiary, Frigosystem India Private Limited, in 2024. The Chennai plant will produce high-efficiency industrial cooling systems locally for customers in plastics, packaging, and process industries, enabling faster delivery times, enhanced service, and improved after-sales support.

The new unit aligns with its long-term commitment to the Indian market and supports the government’s “Make in India” manufacturing initiative. The Chennai operation will generate local employment opportunities and promote diversity within the industrial technology sector by encouraging women’s participation in manufacturing roles.

The inauguration was attended by senior company officials: Alessandro Grassi, chief executive officer of Frigosystem S.R.L. and a director of Frigosystem India, Miriam Olivi, general manager of Frigosystem Corema and Thangapandi Saravanan, Director – Marketing and Operations at Frigosystem India.
