Indus Towers Limited has announced plans to enter the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure sector. The company’s board of directors has approved this initiative, subject to a prudential framework. Pilot EV charging stations have already been launched in Gurugram and Bengaluru.

The move aligns with the government’s focus on increasing EV adoption and developing related infrastructure. Indus Towers, which manages over 234,000 telecom towers across India, aims to leverage its expertise in space management, power solutions, and operations and maintenance to support its entry into this adjacent business sector.

According to a press release issued by the company, the expansion into EV charging infrastructure is part of Indus Towers’ strategy to explore growth opportunities beyond its core telecom infrastructure services.

Indus Towers provides passive infrastructure to all wireless telecommunication service providers in India and operates in all 22 telecom circles across the country.
