Nidec Global Appliance, part of the Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motors (ACIM) business unit, will begin manufacturing Embraco compressors in India at a new facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra. The plant represents an investment of over USD 120 million and is scheduled to start operations in the second half of 2026.
The facility will have a built-up area of 55,000 square meters and an annual production capacity of 6 million units. It is expected to generate between 750 and 1,000 direct jobs. The plant will produce Embraco compressors for residential and commercial refrigeration, as well as electronic components such as inverters used in variable-speed compressors.
“This investment marks a key milestone in our strategy to grow and strengthen our business across international markets. India’s refrigeration market is expanding rapidly, in step with the country’s strong economic momentum. This new facility will allow us to better meet local demand with high-efficiency, locally produced solutions for both the household and commercial sectors,” said Alberto Casnati, President of Nidec Global Appliance.
The new plant will manufacture four series of Embraco compressors. These include the fixed-speed ES and EL models, which are compact, energy-efficient, and suitable for residential refrigeration, with the ES model also having a version for commercial use. It will also produce variable-speed models FMS and VLT, designed for residential and commercial applications respectively.
These models use inverter technology to offer improved energy savings, reduced noise and vibration, stable temperatures, and faster cooling recovery. In addition to compressors, the facility will produce these inverters—electronic components that regulate compressor speed based on cooling demand—enhancing the overall energy efficiency and performance of refrigeration systems.
Valter Taranzano, First Senior Vice President of Nidec Corporation and CEO & President of Nidec Appliance Automotive Division, who visited the new facility, also met with Kenneth Felix Haczynski da Nóbrega, Ambassador of Brazil to India and Bhutan.
“Beyond discussing the new facility, our conversation was on the potential to deepen ties between Brazil and India, and the pivotal role that public-private partnerships can play in fostering economic growth and technological advancement. Ambassador Nóbrega shared valuable insights into the bilateral opportunities, and I am grateful for his openness to support our current and future initiatives,” stated Taranzano.
“By establishing a footprint in India, we aim to support the domestic refrigeration sector and strengthen the local supply chain. At the same time, this facility has the potential to become our regional export hub, further reinforcing the Nidec GA leadership in the global refrigeration industry,” added Casnati.
Nidec Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motors (ACIM) is a business unit of the Appliance Automotive Division (AAD) and includes two platforms: Global Appliance (GA) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I).
